Summary

A midwinter holiday fantasy romance anthology…

From Darynda Jones, a standalone novella set in a world where vampyres are hunted for sport。 The only thing standing between them and total annihilation is Winter, a warrior bred to save them from extinction。 Forbidden to fall in love, Winter cares only about her oaths… until she meets the devilish prince of the underworld。

Amanda Bouchet transports The Kingmaker Chronicles to modern-day New York City。 An exiled warrior finds himself in the Big Apple just before the holidays。 On a vital mission for Athena, he meets an imperiled French teacher from Connecticut, and soon they’re knee-deep in inexplicable phenomena。

Grace Draven brings a novella-length expansion of a stand-alone short story in which a cursed mage-king from a frozen kingdom is obligated to marry a woman of high-ranking nobility but meets his soulmate in a lowly scribe。

From Jeffe Kennedy comes a standalone novella in the Dark Wizard world, where an ancient holiday is resurrected and clandestine lovers find the courage to pursue forbidden joy。

Loved A Wynter Fire!I bought this specifically for Darynda Jones's novella, A Wynter Fire and I freaking loved it! I am so in love with this world and would LOVE more stories here。 It was sexy, dark and thrilling and it has that special Darynda Jones flair too! Wynter Fyre by Darynda Jones - The bones of the story a decent but this hit a major trigger for me early in the story (view spoiler)[there is sexual assault in conjunction Lust inducing vampire venom - this is something I despise even when it is not our heroine who is the victim。 And this being a short story it and the aftermath of her coming down from the Lust is too much of the story (hide spoiler)]Familiar Winter Magic by Jeffe Kennedy - I liked this friends to lovers short。 This world sucks Wynter Fyre by Darynda Jones - The bones of the story a decent but this hit a major trigger for me early in the story (view spoiler)[there is sexual assault in conjunction Lust inducing vampire venom - this is something I despise even when it is not our heroine who is the victim。 And this being a short story it and the aftermath of her coming down from the Lust is too much of the story (hide spoiler)]Familiar Winter Magic by Jeffe Kennedy - I liked this friends to lovers short。 This world sucks for familiar s though。Of Fate and Fire by Amanda Bouchet - King of Hel by Grace Draven - 。。。more

So far, I've read only Of Fate and Fire by Amanda Bouchet and Familiar Winter Magic by Jeffe Kennedy but I will be reading Grace Draven and Darynda Jones because I know what great writers they are。The two stories I've read are brilliant weavings of bright and dark。 Bouchet sets her hero--a Greek-armored armored warrior--in "Big Apple" and the results are hysterical。 Kennedy's portrayal of love realized against the wintry backdrop of 'Founders Day" is so touching。But there is also darkness。 Kenne So far, I've read only Of Fate and Fire by Amanda Bouchet and Familiar Winter Magic by Jeffe Kennedy but I will be reading Grace Draven and Darynda Jones because I know what great writers they are。The two stories I've read are brilliant weavings of bright and dark。 Bouchet sets her hero--a Greek-armored armored warrior--in "Big Apple" and the results are hysterical。 Kennedy's portrayal of love realized against the wintry backdrop of 'Founders Day" is so touching。But there is also darkness。 Kennedy's Convocation Academy portrays harsh realities of a segregated magical society and the reason Bouchet's hero is in NYC in the first place is an existential magical threat。I'm a fan of both Bouchet's Kingmaker series and Kennedy's Dark Wizard series, but I do believe that these stories will whet the appetites of newcomers as well。 。。。more
